Health and the Digital Student: My Personal Journey

The Wake-up Call: Why Your Body Matters

Hello everyone! Being a university student is a constant challenge that goes beyond books and exams. Most of us spend between eight to ten hours a day in front of a computer, either attending virtual classes or working on personal projects.

Last month, I realized that I was neglecting my physical health. I started feeling a sharp, persistent pain in my lower back and a lot of tension in my neck that made it difficult to concentrate. At first, I thought it was just fatigue, but when the pain started affecting my sleep, I realized I needed professional help.

The Consultation: More Than Just a Diagnosis

I decided to make an appointment with a doctor to understand what was happening to me. The atmosphere at the doctor's office was professional but welcoming. After a physical examination, the doctor’s diagnosis was clear: I was suffering from a combination of sedentary behavior and poor ergonomics.

He explained that my chair and desk were not at the correct height, forcing my spine into an uncomfortable position. It was a wake-up call. I was so focused on my academic and music production goals that I forgot to listen to my own body.

Developing a Resolution Plan

The doctor did not just give me a prescription for muscle relaxants; he gave me a lifestyle plan. We discussed several solutions to overcome these health problems.

✔ Adjust my chair and desk to improve posture
✔ Place my monitor at eye level
✔ Take active breaks every hour
✔ Stretch my body for five minutes
✔ Walk at least 30 minutes every day

These small changes can make a big difference in maintaining physical health while studying.

A New Perspective on Well-being

This experience has completely changed my perspective on success. I used to think that spending all night working was a sign of dedication, but now I know it is a sign of poor organization. Taking care of my mental and physical health is now my priority. I have noticed that when I am not in pain, my creativity and productivity actually increase. My advice to all my fellow students is simple: do not ignore the small signs of pain. Your health is the most valuable asset you have, and no degree or project is worth losing your peace of mind.
